Version 1
Technicaltalk: Communication is everything
Or how to get people involved
In the recent years I saw more and more how projects depend on a single person and how there life sometimes changes and thus the project dies or gets in stasis. Most of the time this seems to be a problem of communication and how to bring in new people over time and motivate them to come along.
Another thing is communication at all in KDE (and other Free Software communities) and how to improve this.
Communication is everything: Motivational, optimistic, realistic, pragmatic, direct, constructive and ignoring the trolls.
If you're this way you'll find people that think as you, have additional ideas, more energy and will come and do the way with you.
But communication in the above way is as well very important to keep a project alive. Bring in new people and keep it cool and interesting.
There are different media, different channels, different styles and I hope to integrate some of the findings of my diploma thesis about media usage in Free software communities in my presentation.
