DESCRIPTION:Free and open source license compliance is a thorny topic - i
t is at the same time a rigid obligation to vendors\, an important hygie
ne factor in communities\, and dauntingly complex to achieve and constan
tly maintain. Ensuring license compliance requires adequate business pro
cesses as defined in OpenChain\, a common license data exchange format p
rovided by SPDX\, and tools to automate license compliance requirements
integrated into the engineering workflow - Quartermaster. The presentati
on demonstrates how Quartermaster can be used to automatically create up
-to-date and correct compliance documentation. It explains the concept a
nd philosophy behind the toolchain\, the history of the project and how
Quartermaster develops an industry standard for license compliance tooli
ng by building bridges between free and open source developers\, legal p
ractitioners and open source program offices. The KDE Community should c
onsider adopting Quartermaster for frameworks and application releases.

DESCRIPTION:Guerilla Usability Testing (sometimes called "pub test") is a
quick\, easy and cheap alternative to traditional lab testing: You just
take a device with what you want to test on it to some place where you
find members of your target audience (usually a public place\, but can a
lso be your workplace\, school or sometimes even your friends and family
)\, have them try it out while you observe (and potentially record) them
\, and ask a few questions. Usually you buy them a drink afterwards.\nTh

work well\, and what it should or should not be applied for.

DESCRIPTION:The declarative language of QML makes it easy to design aesth
etically looking user interfaces - including animations\, and encourages
reusability of components. \n\nNow\, when you have your beautiful and e
legant UI you start developing your backend. So should you forget everyt
hing you learned about highly readable code and dynamic interconnections
because you are constrained by C++?\nNo\, I will show you how to bridge
QML with Python\, to get the best of both worlds. \n\nMy practical exam
ple is a "Smart Mirror"\, made entirely with QML and PyQt. This features
a weather service plugin in Python\, which makes use of Asynchronous I/
O and coroutines. And integration with a smart home system in just a few
lines of code. And then there's face recognition\, Google Assistant and
Slack also available.... - with more modules just a few lines of code a
way. You can look at all of the open source examples for yourself.

DESCRIPTION:Being able to run applications and unittests without installi
ng them makes it easier for developers to contribute to one piece of the
puzzle (e.g. to test changes on top of a stable system without the risk
of messing it up).\n\nIt also shortens the change/compile/test developm
ent cycle by removing the install step from it.\n\nThis work was trigger
ed by the presentation and discussion at last year's Akademy\, "Looking
at the Application Developer Story / Making it easy for contributors to
get started". In this year's presentation\, we'll present the results of
that work. First\, the current state of this feature for the KF5 framew
orks themselves\, and then teaching application and library developers w
hat they need to do to make it possible to run applications and unittest
s without installing them first.\n\nCome to learn or discuss about this
 challenge :-)

DESCRIPTION:Yocto is the most commonly used build and configuration manag

DESCRIPTION:The unique selling point of Plasma its ability for applicatio
